Standing Workstation
Introduction
In recent years, we have become aware of the adverse health effects of prolonged sitting. Studies have linked prolonged sitting to a host of health problems, including obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. As a result, we wanted to create a solution that would help people incorporate more standing into their workday. We developed Standify, a revolutionary standing desk designed to be both cost-effective and durable. Our goal was to create a standing desk that is easy to use, lightweight to ship and can withstand all types of damage, including coffee spills.
Problem
Many people are hesitant to invest in a standing desk because of the high cost and the difficulty of assembly. Additionally, traditional standing desks are often heavy and difficult to move, making it difficult for people to adjust their posture throughout the day.
Solution
Standify solves these problems by providing a lightweight, foldable standing desk that is easy to handle and set up. We made it of a durable and tear-resistant plastic material that is able to withstand mechanical stress. This means that the desk is not only affordable to produce, but it is also able to withstand everyday wear and tear. Additionally, the desk is easy to adjust, allowing people to change their posture throughout the day.
Target Market
Our target market for Standify is worldwide, with a primary focus on computer-savvy young adults whose jobs demand that they spend a lot of time working on their computers. These individuals are likely to be aware of the adverse health effects of prolonged sitting and may be looking for an affordable and convenient solution to improve their posture and overall health.
Pricing Strategy
Our pricing strategy for Standify was to make it highly affordable. We estimated the cost of one standing desk at $25, including production costs, materials, and even margin. Affordability was essential to us, as we wanted to ensure that the product was accessible to a wide range of customers.
Promotion & Marketing
Our plan for promoting and marketing Standify was to use social networks and Google Ads. These channels would be the most effective ways to reach our target market and generate interest in the product.
Distribution & Sales
Our plan for distribution and sales was to ship the product via regular ground mail, as it was the most affordable way to do so cost-effectively. We planned to use an online store as the storefront and ship the product worldwide.
Development & Design Process
The development and design process of Standify was not without its challenges. One of our biggest obstacles was finding a durable, water-resistant, lightweight, inexpensive, and foldable material.
Additionally, we wanted the material to be able to hold a heavy large monitor and keyboard. Despite these challenges, I was able to design a lightweight and foldable standing desk made of durable, water-resistant, and tear-resistant plastic material that was affordable.
Unfortunately, we could never conduct market research or gather feedback from potential customers due to the project never being completed. The company that needed to support the project and do the promotion and marketing changed its priorities, and as a result, the project was never completed. One of the main reasons for this was the difficulty setting up exports from Serbia.
Branding
I was responsible for designing the logo for the product. I wanted the logo to be striking and simple, so I created an "S" using the silhouette of the unfolded standing desk. This design choice was meant to reflect the core concept of the product, which is to transform a regular desk into a standing workstation.
The letter "S" also represents the brand name, Standify. I made sure that the logo is simple and easy to remember, and it was important that the logo was versatile and could be used across various mediums such as websites, brochures, business cards, and packaging. The logo effectively represents the brand and its core values.
Conclusion
Standify is a cost-effective, durable standing desk solution designed to improve posture and overall health. The lightweight and foldable design, combined with the durable and tear-resistant material, makes it easy for people to set up and adjust throughout the day. Despite facing challenges in finding suitable material and not being able to conduct market research, we were able to design a product that had the potential to make a positive impact on the market.

My Responsibilities
As the creator of the Standify project, my responsibilities included leading the development and design process of the standing desk. This included researching and testing to find a durable and cost-effective material for the desk and to design the desk to be lightweight, foldable, and adjustable.
I also oversaw the production and manufacturing process to ensure that the final product met our goals and standards.
Additionally, I was responsible for creating the pricing strategy and developing the plan for promoting and marketing the product. Despite the project never being completed, I was dedicated to bringing this innovative product to the market and making it accessible.
